STAR FFA DEGREE

Dina Wallrath Robertson.jpgRichard "Dick" Wallrath has invested more than $1.5 million in the young people of the Texas FFA to date.  This level of giving makes him the all-time largest donor in the 77-year history of the Texas FFA.  His name will echo in perpetuity, and eternity, thanks to his generosity.  Many communities, the Lone Star State, and this country will be a better place to live, work and raise our families as a result of his support and investment in the young people of Texas.

The Star Award – given at the Greenhand, Chapter, Lone Star, and American levels – is based on an exceptional overall Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program and active FFA involvement. The four divisions – Production, Agribusiness, Agricultural Placement, and Agriscience – reflect the diversification of supervised agricultural experience programs and student populations in the state.

All Texas FFA Star award finalists are recognized during convention on stage and presented with a state finalist plaque. The winner is announced at that time and is presented with a $1,000 Dina Wallrath Robertson Memorial Star Award and an additional plaque.  These awards have been permanently endowed by Dick Wallrath.

Members must submit an application and go through an interview process at the area level in order to be selected for Texas FFA scholarships.  Each area association submits scholarship finalists to the state scholarship committee for final scholarship application review and interview.

To find out more about Star FFA Degree scholarships and the application process, visit the Texas FFA website. Please contact your local FFA advisor to determine local deadlines for submitting an application.
